About the KURAMOTO(蔵元の背景について) |
<About the KURAMOTO>
The 2,454-meter-high Myoko-zan looks like a Mt.Fuji in Echigo with its peak elegantly cone-shaped. Niigata’s pure sake “Myoko-zan”, named after this dignified mountain, was born and perfected in this peaceful environment.
The business started in 1815. With this long tradition, a fine selection of raw materials, and plenty of originality, the brewery makes its proud sake.
<KURAMOTO's originality>
The water is especially important for sake making. The brewery presently uses extra-soft underflow water from the Myoko-zan range. This mild water is the source of mellow taste of sake. The Kobo yeast is the brewery’s original, Myoko Kobo, another key of creating savory sake.
<KURAMOTO's awards>
Myokozan sake won National New Sake Awards 9 times, starting with 1991. The sake brewed by factory director Masayuki Hirata has won numerous awards. At the prestigious Echigo brewery Sake competition, he once won 1st prize, ranked in the top 10 four times, and received 13 times of honorable special awards.
<Koshino Setsugekka> Our brand "Koshino Setsugekka" is served in New York's Plaza Hotel. An American artist, Mr. Alan West, created the label of this brand. |
